Who is Sally AI for?

AI meeting transcription tested: a short overview of the strengths, the limits and which teams the German AI meeting assistant actually suits.

By MeetingSummary Editorial Team

Sally AI in focus: rated 4.5 out of 5, made in Germany, GDPR compliant with EU hosting and CRM integration.

Most AI meeting assistants come from the US. Sally AI is a German one, and that single fact shapes almost everything about who it suits. If you have never used a meeting assistant, the idea is simple: it joins your call, listens, and afterwards hands you a structured summary with the key points and the next steps, so nobody types minutes by hand.

This article is not the full review. It is a companion to it, a quick overview to help you decide whether Sally fits your team: what Sally does well, where it falls short, and which teams it suits. What is Sally AI? The AI meeting assistant explained

Sally AI is an AI meeting assistant made in Germany. It joins meetings in Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and Webex, and it can also record in person meetings through its app. During the call it captures what is said. Afterwards it delivers a structured summary with the main takeaways and a list of action items. It labels who said what using speaker recognition, and it supports a very wide range of languages.

Sally AI strengths: what the AI assistant does well

  • Data protection is built in. Everything runs on Hetzner servers in Germany, with EU data residency. It is GDPR compliant and certified to ISO 27001, 9001 and 14001. For regulated teams that is often the deciding factor.
  • Online, in person and hybrid. Most tools only handle video calls. Sally also records physical and hybrid meetings through its app, which suits teams that mix both.
  • Deep CRM integration. Native connections to Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics 365 mean notes and next steps can flow into the CRM without copy and paste, as we cover in AI meeting tools in sales.
  • Broad language coverage and personal German support. It handles a very wide set of languages and offers a German language interface. Its personal, German-speaking support in particular is often praised, something US tools rarely match.
  • Reliable structure. Summary, action items and speaker labels come as standard, so the output is usable straight away.

In our assessment Sally scores 4.5 out of 5, the highest rating on the platform, driven mostly by data protection, support and CRM depth. You can see exactly how that breaks down, criterion by criterion, in the full review.

Sally AI limits: the drawbacks worth knowing

No tool fits everyone. Three honest limits are worth knowing before you commit:

  • No permanently free plan. There is a free trial, and paid plans start from roughly €8 per user per month, but there is no lasting free tier. If a free forever plan is essential, other tools serve that better.
  • No live captions. Sally records and summarizes after the call rather than showing real time subtitles during it. If you need live captions in the meeting itself, it is not the right pick.
  • No open API or self hosting. The integrations are native and solid, but there is no public API to build your own workflows, and no on premise option.

It is also a smaller brand than the large US vendors, which matters less for the product than for how familiar it feels to your team at first.

Which teams is Sally AI for?

Putting the strengths and limits together, Sally fits some teams very well and others less so.

  • Teams with strict data protection needs. Consultancies, law firms, healthcare and the public sector, especially in the DACH region, value the German hosting and certifications. See our best tools for consultants.
  • Sales teams on Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics. If notes need to land in the CRM automatically, the native integrations do real work. See the best tools for sales teams.
  • Teams that mix online and in person meetings and want both captured in one place.

It is a weaker fit if you need a free forever plan, live captions during the call, an open API or self hosting. In those cases, start from the comparison table instead.

Testing Sally AI yourself: how to check the fit

The best test is your own. Run one real recording through Sally and whatever else you are considering, then compare. Check accuracy in your language, as we explain in how accurate is AI meeting transcription, confirm the CRM fields you need actually fill, and make sure the data protection paperwork works for you. Our guide to GDPR and meeting recording covers what to check.
